For making a difference in your community.

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

Jefferson Elementary School 5th & 6th grade classes hosted a “forever green” donation drive
January 25 through the 29th, 2010. They donated over 900 pounds of clothing and household items  to Goodwill that otherwise might have ended up in the landfill.

Brenda Pyle, a senior at South Medford High School coordinated the drive and did a presentation for the students about Goodwill and the importance of recycling as part of her senior project. The students proved they got the message by filling the Goodwill bins to the max. Mike McGoffins’s class lead the competition by collecting a  whopping 435 pounds. The class will receive an official Goodwill tour to learn more about how their donations change lives in the community.

This was a  wonderful opportunity for students to learn the importance of “going green” and the role they play through community service in making their community a better place.

A  heartfelt Thank You to Principal Tom Sherwood, Mr. Mc Goffin, Mrs. Spears, Ms. Lightle, Mr. Mc Candless, Mrs. Humble and all  the students and families for their  participation and
generosity
